  • X-DRL 10.5 Outlaw Class – The REAL DEAL!

105_xdrlKERRVILLE, Texas (July 19, 2013) –- The excitement is building for the new 10.5 Outlaw class with the X-DRL announcing the purse pay-out for this popular class. The winner earns $5,000; runner-up $1,500; two semi-finalist $750/each and four quarter-finalists will bring home $500 each. Entry fee will be $350 with no membership required. The rules package will mirror those developed by Cecil County Dragway and will be followed without exception. This class will not be eligible for championship points for the 2013 season.

X-DRL President Jeff Mitchell is excited about the addition of this class and the changes made to the sportsmen classes for MIR, “We are expecting a great 10.5 car count at MIR and we think the fans are going to enjoy this class. With additional support coming from Pat Musi for the Mickey Thompson Top Sportsman competitors and ATI Performance Parts joining in Top Dragster, we think the Mayhem at the Creek is going to be a great show, one that you won’t want to miss!”

Pat Musi brings additional support to the Mickey Thompson Top Sportsman class by paying half of the entry fee. ATI has stepped up to do the same for the Top Dragster. In addition, the X-DRL has waived membership requirements and honored IHRA chassis certifications and licenses.

Royce Miller is excited about the X-DRL’s first appearance at Budds Creek, “We were glad the X-DRL is able to allow the IHRA chassis and licenses in the sportsman classes and know the sponsorships will help more competitors participate with the sponsor supported entry fees. We have so many great racers in this area and these rules will allow more cars in the field and make for a better show for the fans.”

The Mayhem at the Creek will be held July 26-27 at Maryland International Raceway. For more information, visit http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/schedule/calendar/2013/13-07/13-07-27.htm or call 301-884-9833.

  • Blue04 to Have Positive Impact on X-DRL Operations

XDRL_LOGO_FINALWhile many creeks have risen with the mayhem of recent summer showers, the X-DRL’s upcoming “Mayhem at the Creek” promises everyone at the renowned Maryland International Raceway will rise from their seats when the world’s fastest door-slammers take to the track  tarting at high-noon next Friday.

The X-DRL comes in with renewed energy, thanks to a new relationship with Blue04, the premier oxygen enhanced electrolyte water beverage and X-DRL’s new Title Sponsor. “Along with the addition of a substantial title rights program, Blue04 has given the X-DRL the opportunity to establish a distribution network selling Blue04 to raise additional capital to support the league,” stated X-DRL President Jeff Mitchell. “We’ve already sold over a dozen truckloads of this premium beverage and all of the revenue generated is going directly to the X-DRL. We hope to have Blue04 at every race track and race-fan owned business who uses water in the future. This is an incredible opportunity for the racing community to embrace a new business model that goes beyond traditional sponsorship in their financial support.”

Beginning at the Mayhem at the Creek, fans will start to see the influence of this partnership including cases of water available in the registration trailer for race teams to purchase. As with a majority of first year startup businesses, the X-DRL has been challenged by many factors to perform at the level of its initial business plan. Mitchell continued, “X-DRL’s core management is committed to provide a premium experience for both racers and fans of the sanction, and while change is inevitable, we will embrace those changes and do what it takes to overcome the short-term adversity that has confronted this organization.”

One such change is the decision of Chris Bell to step-down as the X-DRL Operations
Manager. Chris’ has been instrumental in guiding the X-DRL thru the establishment of the sanction and his efforts are very much appreciated. Numerous resources are being engaged to fulfill his position. The level of experience and professionalism Royce Miller and the staff at MIR bring to the table will assist in a smooth transition in relation to the upcoming event. Chris’s departure was amicable and he continues to remain in open
communication with key personnel at the X-DRL. Related to “Operations” is an additional change that is of the utmost importance to the participants of any professional competition where performance is rewarded financially. As a result of support from Blue04, starting with the event at M.I.R., all teams will be issued their payout at the conclusion of the event. Any, and all remaining outstanding performance awards will be paid in full no later than August 15th 2013.

“Moving forward, we believe a stated pay-out policy will help alleviate frustrations and we are thrilled to be in a position to pay our racers at the conclusion of each event,” stated X-DRL President Jeff Mitchell.

With sincere disappointment for all X-DRL fans from the city of Dallas, TX and all surrounding communities, uncertainty surrounding the ownership at Dallas Raceway have failed to yield a position of confidence, so this event will be removed from the 2013 schedule with no replacement. The X-DRL will contact racers who were pre-registered to refund their fees or apply them to future events.

“Work has already begun on the 2014 schedule and we hope to include a Texas race next season,” Mitchell said.

X-DRL President Jeff Mitchell as well as some of the stars of the X-DRL will be on SHRA radio  Tuesday, July 23rd to discuss “Mayhem at the Creek.” The show airs at 7:00pm EST at SHRAonline.com or you call in to listen or speak to the host at (909) 265-9152.

  • X-DRL Bringing Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School Experience to Mayhem at the Creek

Roy-HillThe X-DRL has formed a partnership with Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School that will add even more excitement to the already jam-packed Mayhem at the Creek at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, MD on July 26-27.

Drag racing legend Roy Hill and his staff will be on hand with the Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School three-seater dragster, which is backed by Coca-Cola, Alsco and FireAde 2000. This unique ride-along dragster will offer the experience of a lifetime for ten drag racing fans at Mayhem at the Creek.

“In the weeks leading up to the event, we’ll be giving away rides in the dragster to ten lucky fans through both the X-DRL and Maryland International Raceway Facebook pages,” said X-DRL President Jeff Mitchell. “After recently attending Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School and experiencing the three-seater dragster, I knew this was something we had to do for our fans at our next race. Stay tuned for more details on how to win.”

The final ride in the dragster will be raffled with proceeds going directly to Cancer Sucks, the X-DRL’s officially designated charity for 2013.

In addition to the dragster, Hill and team driver Craig Hankinson will also enter two of the Phoenix Racing Ford Mustang Cobra Jets in the X-DRL SuperCar Showdown class. With backing from Ford Racing, Mustang Club of America’s “Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration” and FireAde 2000, the team will be fielding 2010 and 2013 model Cobra Jets.

“I’m really excited to be working with Jeff and all the folks at X-DRL,” Hill said. “I can’t wait to see the smiles on the fans’ faces after they experience a thrilling ride down the same 1/8th mile the stars of the X-DRL are competing on.”

  • The X-DRL continues to add excitement in its program with the inclusion of a 10.5 class

105_xdrlAccording to president Jeff Mitchell, the X-DRL continues to listen to track partners, racers and fans as the program continues to develop throughout the inaugural season.

“We have been looking for the right class to add since before the Spring Nationals that would complement our professional and sportsman programs, work with our track prep strategy and bring the fans the excitement they have come to expect from the X-DRL,” Mitchell said.

“We believe a properly structured 10.5 class will be exciting and fit well with the other classes we currently offer. This will be a 16-car field and use established rules.”

The X-DRL is working out the final details and plans to offer this class starting at Bud’s Creek at the Mayhem on the Creek, July 26-27.

According to Director of Operations Chris Bell, the addition of an Outlaw 10.5 class adds a new type of excitement to the X-DRL. “We want to give the fans a new look with the “Street Car” appearance of the 10.5 cars while giving these dedicated racers the best track and facilities to compete on. Our rules will be out soon but are based on an established set of rules to allow racers the opportunity to race with us at a National event level.”

Rules, sponsors and pay-out information for this class will be released later this week.

  • For the time being Dean Goforth is ready to party like it’s 1984

xpsFor the time being Dean Goforth is ready to party like it’s 1984

A race after winning his first event in the X-DRL, Goforth took his new Jerry Haas Race Cars Camaro to a runner-up spot in St. Louis, continuing his strong early-season momentum.

Most importantly, Goforth also took over the points lead in X-treme Pro Stock, putting him in the points lead for the first time since 1984.

It’s a gargantuan feat for Goforth, who has shown remarkable ability behind the wheel this season.

He lost to Todd Hoerner in the final at X-treme Gateway Showdown, but he still left with the points lead and had nothing but positives to say about finishing as the runner-up and the surface at Gateway Motorsports Park.

“Todd was just ready on the tree and I wasn’t. I wish I’d have won but I wasn’t upset Todd won,” Goforth said. “I’ve been coming here (GMP) since the 80’s and this is the best the track has even been.”

Goforth leads John DeFlorian by 200 points in XPS, but the tightest battles continue to appear in Pro X-Treme.

pxBrandon Pesz leads Tim Tindle by a mere 10 points and this points race gets even juicier as the two talented standouts are set to meet in the finals of X-Treme Gateway Showdown. That final will be finished next month at the Mayhem at the Creek at Maryland International Raceway, meaning plenty will be on the line. Quain Stott isn’t far behind trailing Pesz by just more than 100 points – or one round.

Bob Rahaim narrowed the gap in Pro Nitrous to 103 points after winning in St. Louis, but Jeff Naiser has still managed to hang onto the points lead. Billy Glidden is nearly within two rounds, meaning a great three-way race to the PN championship appears to be setting up.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team. Everyone really pulled it together and it turned out great,” Rahaim said. “We’re heading in the right direction and that’s exciting to see.”

tsIn Mickey Thompson Top Sportsman, Gulitti continued to take command of the class after posting his second win in four races by powering through the competition in St. Louis. Heading into the Mayhem at the Creek at Maryland International Raceway, Gulitti has opened a sizeable gap in the competitive class.

xpm (2)Kevin Rivenbark seized the lead in X-treme Pro Mod, making a major move after winning his first professional race at the X-DRL’s race in St. Louis. Rivenbark leads Dan Stevenson by more than 300 points, building a considerable lead thanks to plenty of consistent racing.

Other points leaders include Todd Moyer (Precision Turbo & Engine Pro Turbo) and Michael Kile (Top Dragster). Kile leads Darrell Reid by 150 points, but Reid made a massive jump in St. Louis, going from No. 13 in points to second in just the span of one race.

In Pro Junior Dragster, Jackson Core is the current points leader after four of the X-DRL’s event in its inaugural 2013 season.

  • Rivenbark Scores First National Event Win at X-DRL St. Louis

xpm (3)With four qualifying sessions of X-Treme Pro Mod completed, Rivenbark had positioned himself perfectly at the top of the pack. Driving his supercharged 2002 Pontiac Firebird and seated in the number one spot with his 3.935 at 188.52 MPH pass, Rivenbark also set the Top Speed number for the class.

As the race progressed, Rivenbark got down to business. When he lined up for the first round of eliminations, the GALOT team was confident that he would succeed. The lights dropped, and Rivenbark’s strong 3.951 at 188.10 MPH run gave him the easy win over his opponent. Having earned himself a bye in the next round, Rivenbark opted to take it easy and cruised through to the finals. After a brief rain delay, Rivenbark staged his car, dropped the hammer and never looked back. His 3.929 at 188.49 MPH run not only earned him a well-deserved trip to the winner’s circle, but was also a new career best ET!

Fellow GALOT driver Todd “King Tut” Tutterow also did very well in the Pro X-Treme class with his supercharged 1967 Ford Mustang GT500. Qualifying merely 0.13-seconds shy of the leader, Tutterow’s best run was a 3.765 at 201.40 MPH pass which seated him well for the upcoming eliminations. In the first round, Tutterow went straight, clean and true with a 3.768 at 201.67 MPH run to take the win. He repeated that performance in round two with an even quicker run of 3.760 at 201.61 MPH. In the semi-finals, Tutterow had his best pass of the weekend, but unfortunately his 3.743 at 201.70 MPH trip was not enough to hold off his challenger.

  • X-DRL X-Treme Gateway Showdown Final Results

    XDRL_LOGO_FINAL

Eliminations during the 2013 X-Treme Drag Racing League X-Treme Gateway Showdown at Gateway Motorsports Park moved faster than a huge storm front, avoiding a stoppage and allowing the XDRL to complete another event.

Pro X-Treme low qualifier Brandon Pesz’s ’58 Corvette kept the third driver’s door in two days in place, running a 3.690 @ 204.91 MPH to down Quain Stott’s ’63 Corvette, which ran a losing 3.725 @ 203.25, with identical reaction times. On the other side of the ladder, Tim Tindle’s Mustang outran the Mustang of Todd Tutterow, 3.696 @ 204.57 MPH to Todd’s 3.743 @ 201.70 MPH. The only class which did not finish with an event winner, it will be decided during qualifying at the next event in Maryland.

Extreme Pro Mod’s Kevin Rivenbark, in the Todd Tutterow-tuned ’02 Galot Motorsports Firebird, ran a 3.929 @ 188.49 MPH, to turn back the 3.913 @ 187.12 MPH posted by the Dave’s RV ’68 Camaro of Ron Muenks,.

In Pro Nitrous, it was Bob Rahaim’s Chevy Camaro by default. Billy Glidden had damaged his motor in the previous round, and rather than risk further destruction, he withdrew from the final, handing the win to Rahaim.

The Pro Turbo class’ Todd Moyer prevailed over Mike Murillo, with a 3.908, 200.95 MPH, to Murillo’s 4.339 @ 145.16 MPH.

In the X-Treme Pro Stock final, it was Todd Hoerner in the Mesquite Logistics Camaro, besting Dean Goforth’s identical Camaro, with Hoerner’s holeshot proving to be the difference, as his 4.140 @ 175.64 MPH beat a quicker and faster 4.102 @ 176.84 MPH from Dean’s Camaro. One of the biggest upsets of the season thus far, it pitted a struggling Mesquite Logistics team against the low qualifier, much to the delight of the crowd.

Darrell Reid’s TNT Top Dragster took the class win over local favorite Jason Phillips in his Race Craft car, with a 4.339 @ 157.76 MPH to a losing 4.784 @ 143.69.

Bob Gulitti’s ’11 Camaro ran a 4.213 @ 170.36 MPH in Top Sportsman to take the X over Mike Kikenes’ ’70 Plymouth Duster, which lost a belt and slowed to a 4.513 @ 154.63 MPH.

Rising to the top of Pro Junior Dragster, Crowley, Louisiana’s Jackson Core defeated Independence, Kentucky’s Tyler Clouse, who ran a 7.904 @ 82.56 MPH, with a .026 reaction time, to Clouse’s 7.922 @ 82.50 MPH, with a .021 reaction time.

The XDRL concluded the Xtreme Gateway Showdown with many new fans, and a following that continues to grow. The next event will be July 26-27, the Mayhem at the Creek, at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Maryland.

The following are Saturday’s final qualifying results from the 2013 X-Treme Drag Racing League X-Treme Gateway Showdown:
