|GALOT MOTORSPORTS unveiled the newest addition to its stable of cars, a supercharged 1967 Ford Mustang GT500, at Mike Hill’s Battle of the Big Dawgs race at Carolina Dragway in Aiken, SC on October 11-12, 2013.
Kevin Rivenbark was behind the wheel of the new GALOT GT500, and while the car is built for Pro Mod class specifications, the pair ran in the Blower Class for this particular event. Qualifying fifth overall with a best run of 3.97 at 190 MPH, Rivenbark was situated well as he headed into eliminations.
In the first round, Rivenbark rocked the run and arrived at the big end of the track first to trigger the win lights in his lane as he blazed through the traps. Moving into round two, Rivenbark was on track for another flawless run but the racing surface had other things in mind as he was forced to pedal the car. When the scoreboards lit, Rivenbark’s 4.25 ET wasn’t enough to hold off the car in the other lane, number two qualifier Rick Fleck with a 4.08 ET pass.
Overall, the team is very pleased with the performance of the new GALOT GT500 and is happy with how the weekend went. An abundance of essential data was obtained which will allow GALOT’s legendary tuner Todd “King Tut” Tutterow to perfect the car’s performance for upcoming events. The 2014 season is quickly approaching, and the GALOT Motorsports team plans to campaign the new car regularly.
