At the 2014 Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, two longtime IHRA officials were injured in accidents. Marc Kinton, head of safety and rescue for IHRA, had to be airlifted to University Hospital with head and shoulder injuries. Soon after, Thomas Czaplicki was rushed to the same hospital after he wrecked his scooter in responding to an on-track accident.
While Marc was released from the hospital and cleared to fly home on schedule, Thomas’ injuries were worse than originally thought and he had to remain in the hospital in Edmonton for several days before being transported to a hospital closer to his Virginia home.
Thankfully both Marc and Thomas are on the men, but were out of work for weeks. While pay checks ceased the living expenses and medical bills continued. They are now dealing with the stress of finances when they need to be focused on healing.
God Speed Ministry has set up a fund to help offset the cost of these medical bills. All money donated to this fund will go directly to Marc and Thomas. As one racer said to Renee Bingham after Marc’s accident, “These are the guys who help us when we need help. Now it is our privilege to be able to help them.” Here’s how you can help:
